Bovilis BVD

Inactivated vaccine for active immunisation of cows and heifers from eight months of age onwards to protect the foetus against transplacental infection with BVDV.

As Bovilis BVD is indicated for active immunisation of cows and heifers to protect the foetus against transplacental infection with Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD) virus, it can be employed as an effective tool for controlling and possibly eradicating this complicated disease from your dairy and beef farms. A dose of 2ml is injected intramuscularly, and initially two doses are given a month apart, the second dose more than 4 weeks before mating. Subsequent boosters are administered annually, at least 4 weeks in advance of gestation, in the case of individual animal vaccination or for whole herd vaccination, boosters must be administered every six months. Bovilis BVD can be used from 8 months of age. Ideally, the BVD status of a farm should first be established by the analysis of bulk milk samples (DairyCheck or similar scheme) or individual blood sample analysis (Beef herds).
